Upcoming:
- Farmers Branch/Carrollton: Farmers Branch/Carrollton will be hosting a Smart Workshops Facilitator Training on Friday May 20, 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM, at the Embassy Suites, 14021 Noel Road, Dallas, TX, 75240 (Spring Valley & Noel). Event contact is DeBorah Whaley-Stephensen, 972-860-4807 or DeBorah@dcccd.edu. This workshop will provide Facilitator training by a WAGE Project (an AAUW partner organization) representative to enable the attendee to market and lead a Smart Workshop. A Smart Workshop is designed to teach a first time or returning to work woman how to negotiate a fair starting salary and why it is important to do so.Cost $60 which includes materials and dinner. - Farmers Branch/Carrollton: Farmers Branch/Carrollton will be hosting a Women, Work and Money: Outmaneuver Career Stalls & Stops workshop on Saturday, May 21, 8AM – 4PM, at Brookhaven College, Building H, 3939 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX 75244. If interested, contact by email aauwcfb@hotmail.com or bhcInfo@dcccd.edu . Cost is $15 ($5 Registration, $10 Materials) Financial Assistance available (e-mail bhcInfo@dcccd.edu). WWAM consists of several workshops designed to assist mature women just entering or reentering the workplace. Workshops available are “The Nuts & Bolts of Budgeting and Credit”, “How to Manage Your Own Start-Up”, “How to Turn Your Age into an Advantage”, “Networking: The GPS of Job Searches: and “$mart $tarts: How to Rev Up Your Salary-Negotiating Skills”. Stephenville: Stephenville Branch will be hosting a Volunteer Fair on October 14th from 6:30-8:00pm. The Fair will be located at the First Presbyterian Church, 1304 North Harbin Dr., Stephenville, TX 76401. The Fair provides a venue for non-profit organizations needing volunteer help and individuals wishing to volunteer services to match up. AAUW will provide space, advertising and refreshments. Plano/Collin County: Please join the Plano/Collin County Branch at the AAUW Holiday Tour of Homes on November 20-21. Four Plano homes will be open for viewing. Tickets purchased ahead are $15 each, and $18 on day of tour. Here are the Website Tour Poster, News Release, and Holiday Tour Map. - Tarrant County: Sister-to-Sister Summit, for and about girls, is on Sat, November 6th at downtown's TCC Trinity River Campus. Goodie bag items are still needed for 100 jr high girls; donate 10 items or 100! Volunteers are still needed on the Summit day (Nov 6th); donate an hour of your time or all day from 8:30-3:30pm.
